- Having lived in America and Greece, I have reminded
many Americans to be open-minded to the culture and society
differences between U.S.A. and Greece. What you might find
strange or absurd may actually be normal and "every day" regular
to the locals. - Charles
- The best month to visit Greece is September. The weather is very good, the Aegean winds cease,
and you can get better service and prices, because it's low season.
- The majority of the hotels in most Greek tourist destinations, remain closed for seven months a year or more.
- Take some precautions with the Greek sun.
- The timetables and the connections between the islands vary from season to season.
- Although you can always find someone who speaks English - even in the most remote places -
a word in Greek can be very helpful at the first contact. - Peter
- When flying from a cold climate to a warmer one, board with a change of
appropriate of clothes. Approximately one hour from arrival, change and
enjoy the new found warm ! - Sally
- In two weeks, I will be traveling to Greece for my second time. The
first was two years ago. I am traveling at the same time this trip for
several reasons. Fewer tourist and crowds. Orthodox Easter (wonderful)
and the climate gets warmer as the days pass. I return home mid to late
May because everyone starts arriving then. - Neal
- I love Greece in September. Places I have visited include Chios (where
my parents are both from), Thessaloniki, Halkidiki, Volos (Pelio),
Katerini and Pireus. The islands are the place to be no question there
in the summer time. I have been to Athens in the winter and I would say
that would be the place during winter (some winter... 70 degrees in
February last year, Pireus). A refreshing change from our bad snow
winters in Boston. Happy travels to us all. - Esther
